Body Vessel Clay film
Jan 2022
I’ve been busy making a short film for The Body Vessel Clay exhibition at Two Temple Place.
The show focuses on Black women in Ceramics and contemporary art, and my film is being shown in the Clay Room, which is a space for the public to get their hand on clay and try and make something themselves. My film basically looks at three artist and there process of working with clay.
Rich Miller makes hand made tiles and is also know from his appearances in The Great Pottery Throw down. It was fascinating to see his production process that was creating repeated near identical tiles, that still showed subtle signs of its makers hand.
Freya Bramble - Carter makes pots both by throwing and by coiling techniques. Her physical connection and control of the material was amazing to see.
and Cecily Loveys Jervoise who digs her own clay from a secret location in South London, help me identify clay from mud!
It was great to find an edit that showcased all three practices with some nice philosophical quotes from the artist.
