Metro bank in colour
May 2021
This was part of a Guardian advertorial for Metrobank about small businesses owners and their Metrobank advisors. It included three case studies, Nate from a company called Koalaa, who make prosthetic limbs, Lisa from a company called Daisy’s Empawrium pet shop, and Alexei from Lexi’s treats, who make protein bars.
We had to shoot them on Metrobank branded colours, and strangely the three case studies and the colour scheme was also used in an ad that they made - so we remade the ad for an advertorial…
As well as the studio shoots I also visited the Koalaa workshop and the dog Empawrium.
Nate who studied Mechanical engineering at Imperial, started his business after making an ‘Ironman’ inspired robotic hand to try and create a better prosthetic than the heavy and dated ones the NHS provide. But after doing some consultation with quadruple amputee Alex Lewis, they learned that what was really useful wasn’t something that mimics a hand, but rather a prosthetic that was a tool, that you could attach various grips too, that help you do one task.
I mentioned to him that I had photographer Ollie Hancock, also an amputee, see blog post here, and he was modifying and constructing his own prosthetics for exactly that reason. It was great to see Nate’s innovative workshop and product development process and I’m sure his business will go on to great success.
