Kind City
Sept 2021
This was for a project called Kind City, which is an interactive audience generated global project, aiming to explore the future of our cities and how we would like them to evolve and improve.
They were using images from around the world to show communities in modern cities, “We invite people from all walks of life to share their vision for a kinder city. We want to hear your hopes, dreams, and ideas to shape a better future for all. To join us and become a citizen, simply finish this sentence… The Kind City of the future will...”
I was asked to do some street reportage in London, specifically looking at the South Asian and Arab community - the joy of London is that no matter what community you want to document, it all exists in this glorious metropolis!
The down side of this was that is was street casting - so getting model releases for each of the people in the photos. This involved having to stop people and explain what we were doing and then convincing them that it was worthwhile for them to participate, and keep it looking as naturalistic as possible.
Luckily Londoners are Kind!
